apt-get update failed to fetch

In Linux, the repository file or the repo file contains the path of the remote server where all the Linux update or applications is available to be downloaded. When we execute the update command or any other software installation command it will check its repo file to know the update server location or the software server location from where the software can be downloaded.

The Linux system will check all the links that are available in its repository file. If any one of the links is failed to load then the Linux system will display an error message respecting that link. Just like the below. Here, the cd-rom link is failed to load. that's why this error is appearing.

Because of this error, we cannot update our system to the latest release, or we cannot install any software as our requirement. All of the links in the repository file must be accessible to perform any update command or any installation command. That's why we have to check our repository file to find out which link is no working. To resolve the problem, we can remove that dead link or we can comment on that link. After that, no error message will have appeared.

According to this article, my CD-ROM link is not accessible that is available in my repo file. That's why when I ran the update command the Linux system failed to initialize it because of this dead link.

To resolve it, I have to remove that link from my repo file or I have to comment on that link. Just like below:-

The repo file location is "/etc/apt/sources.list".

That's it.

VMware Authenticity Host SSL Certificate not Verified

In this article, we will discuss one issue respecting the "Authenticity of the host certificate is not verified." At the vCenter server, we can't make any change in the connected host or we can't add the host into our vCenter server.

There are two possible reasons that can be responsible for this problem. The first one is the double DNS entry. And the second one is changing the hostname for the ESXi host machine. We will start using the second one.

If we change the hostname for the ESXi host machine that is already connected to the vCenter server then this issue will arise. The reason behind that, during joining the ESXi host machine to the vCenter server a certificate has been issued by the vCenter server for that ESXi machine using that machine hostname. That's why if the hostname is changed after adding the ESXi host to the vCenter server the certificate value will be mismatched for that ESXi machine and that error message will have appeared. For that, to resolve this issue just replace your hostname with the previous one if you changed it.

Now we will discuss the first one means double DNS entry. If we get that error message during adding a host to the vCenter server, then the possible reason for that is double DNS entry. If there are two entries available for the same hostname but with a different IP address then this issue will have arisen. The computer will get confused about what entry it will use to reach the destination. To resolve this issue just remove one entry.

That's it. No more problem will have appeared.

VMware ESXI no Login Screen

There are four options available in VMware ESXi Host to work with its interface. The available options are:-

Alt + F1      = To access the ESXi Shell or Console interface
Alt + F2      = To access the ESXi Direct Console User Interface (DCUI)
Alt + F11    = To switch to banner screen
Alt + F12    = To switch the VMkernel Log Console

In this article, we will discuss one issue respecting ESXi Shell or console interface. Using this interface we can execute the ESXi shell command.

After switching to the ESXi Shell or after pressing the Alt + F1 button, we can't find any login screen. Just one blank window is appearing with ESXi version information.

If we switch to this console mode and we don't enable the console shell service then no login prompt will have appeared. That's why we have to enable the ESXi console shell service to work with this mode.

To enable this feature just login to your ESXi host web interface using its IP address. Then go to the "Action" tab and click on "Services". Here we can find the option to enable this feature.

That's it. Now we have the login prompt into our shell environment. Just like the following:-

Thank you.
