VMware View No Desktop Source Assigned for This User

In this tutorial, we will discuss the VMware Horizon virtual desktop connection issue that is appeared by the users during their virtual server login process.

After providing the user credentials, one user should be displayed by the available desktop pool that is entitled to that user. After clicking on the desktop pool, a "no desktop source assigned for this user" error message has appeared.

Now we will learn the solution to remove that login issue. Generally at the VMware Horizon server, we have to entitle the user to the desktop pool after that desktop pool has been created. Otherwise, no user can't use that desktop pool. This desktop pool should be contained one or more virtual machines. That virtual machine should be assigned to the user also. Otherwise, the user should be displayed by that error message.
The user assignment process for the virtual machine can be done automatically or manually. To use the automatic assignment process, we have to enable this feature during the desktop pool creation time.

If we don't enable this feature then we have to assign the user manually. If we don't enable that feature as well as don't assign any user to the virtual machine also then that error message will have appeared. In that case, to resolve this problem just assign that user to the virtual machine that is used during the login process.

How to assign the user to the virtual machine is discussed step by step below:-

To use the automatic process just enable the feature during the desktop pool creation time that we discussed earlier. The horizon server will assign the user to the available virtual machine randomly.
But if we want to specify the virtual machine for the specific user then we should use the manual process.

For that open up your desktop pool from the pool list.

Now go on the "Machine" tab. Now the available virtual machine list will be displayed. There is a tab named "Assigned User".  If this field is blank then it has been confirmed that no user has assigned for this virtual machine system.

Here the "Assigned User" field is empty for the "Number-1" virtual machine that means no users have assigned for this virtual machine. Also, notice that the "Assigned User" field for the "Number-3" virtual machine is not empty which means one user is assigned for this system. Now we are going to assign a user for the "Number-1" virtual machine. For that, select the machine and click on the "More Commands" drop-down button. Then click on "Assign User".

After assigning the user, you should see the "Assigned User" field value has updated.

That's
