What is Telnet

In this tutorial, we are going to discuss about what is "Telnet". Why it is being used?

If you want to learn about, how to enable windows builtin Telnet client feature, then follow the below link.

Or If you want to learn about, how to use Telnet to access an open port, then go over the following link.

Telnet is standing for "Telecommunication Network" or sometimes it's called "Teletype Network". It was first developed in 1969. It is a networking protocol, which is used to access remote computers or terminals over the internet as well as TCP/IP network. Generally, it's designed for remote access and management purpose on remote system.

It works using server-client architecture. Means, a Telnet server program has to be installed on a system and a user have to be used a Telnet client program to connect to that system. After entering the valid credential, it provides access to the command line mode. There is no graphical interface available for the Telnet program.Telnet uses no encryption during data transmission. That's why, there is a chance to be manipulated data by the middle man's attacker during transmission. Because of this security breach, we are using an alternative program named SSH to perform the same task.
