Windows 7 VPN Server

We usually do VPN server in the router or in the server operating system. In this article we will see, how to make a VPN server in windows 7. Not only windows 7, it will also work for windows 8.1, 8. For VPN client, VPN server either must have real IP or the port forwarded in the router.

To setup the VPN server, we will go to the "Network & Sharing Center" from the "Control Panel".

Now, we will select "Change Adapter Settings" from the left upper corner.

Now, we have to enable "Menu bar" feature under "Layout" option from "Organize" tab.

After enabling, the "Menu bar" will be showed up on top. Select "File" and click on "New Incoming Connection".

Now select, which credential will be used during incoming access or connection. You can choose from the existing user list or you can create a new one using "Add someone" button.

Select the user and click next. Now click on "Through the internet".

Now,  select TCP/IP version 4 or 6, whatever you want. To assign an IP to the remote user, if you want to use a DHCP server, then click directly on the "Allow access". And if you want to assign IP manually, then click on "Properties" and provide IP information.

Done. Windows 7 is ready to receive incoming VPN connection.
